The Design/Build Process

Michael Brusko Design/Build has the experience and the resources to make the design/build process both positive and fulfilling. We will help you find answers to all of your questions and guide you step-by-step through the process of building your custom home.

We will listen to and evaluate your needs and desires, design to those specifications and preferences, take care of all the permits and surveys, and acquire any architectural approvals necessary from your municipality.

When you are ready to build, our project manager and building supervisors will be there to guide you through the daily home-building process. Our planned construction process will virtually assure that your home is constructed the way you want it, using the most cost effective building methods in this sensitive coastal environment while emphasizing quality and structural integrity, on schedule and at a cost you can understand and control.

Our assistance can include:

Advising you before lot purchase
Will our house fit the lot, and what can we build?
Will the location serve our needs?
How will our home impact the surrounding environment?
Do we need to make any improvement to build on the lot?
Does the price of the lot fit our budget?

Selecting and designing the perfect plan
Does the plan fit our taste and lifestyle?
Will the house still suit us as our needs change?
Will the house look appropriate in the surrounding area?
Will the house be energy efficient, will it be green?
Who takes care of all the approvals and submissions?
Will the house be a sound investment when completed?
How do we get financing?
When should we plan on selling our current home?

Final planning and construction
Where do we get plans and how do we change them?
How do we build a house “long distance” since we live far away?
Where and how do we select items to suit our personal taste?
Can we use our heirloom chandelier in the new home?
Will there be any additional costs?
Can we make changes?
Who do we contact when we have a question?
Where do we meet?

Final construction and occupancy
When should we plan on scheduling the moving company?
Do we have a closing?
If we have a question or problem, who should we call?
Where should we go for insurance?
How does the warranty work?
What if we need something after we move in?

As neighbors, we can give you a list of local services – from hair salons, to grocery stores and doctors. Everything you need to move in and feel at home.
